Coatsville Times, 1/25/2022- Houlahan invites community to participate in 2nd Valentines for Vets event
By Staff
After a successful inaugural card drive last year, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) announced the return of her office’s Valentines for Veterans project today. Houlahan is inviting students and community members to participate in the project by making cards for area veterans, thanking them for their service.
“Last year, we were inspired by our community’s overwhelming response,” said Houlahan. “We collected over 2,000 individual messages, allowing us to give each veteran several heartfelt notes of appreciation.”
“Like many Pennsylvanians, our veterans have endured a lot throughout the pandemic. As we work to address their ongoing needs – accessing veterans’ benefits in a timely manner, scheduling health care appointments with ease, and more – this gesture is a simple reminder that we appreciate their service.
The cards will be delivered in the days before Valentine’s Day to area veterans’ medical and community centers. Those who wish to participate may drop off or mail cards to Houlahan’s West Chester office anytime between now and Monday, February 7. Due to the temporary City Hall closure in Reading, we are currently unable to collect cards at that office. Call (610) 883-5050 with any questions.
